Mavic air 2 switch to FCC mode using an android app

Probably too soon, but has anyone updated air2s to the new firmware v.02.04.2700 (C1 certification) and checked if the FCC mode app still works?

Hello All,
I have created an android app which allows switching from CE to FCC mode .

APK is attached , usage (currently need to use bottom type C port for patch only):
1.connect mavic air 2 controller bottom type C cable to your android device , turn on the controller .
2.run my application and press the patch button .
3.change your phone usb connection to normal top one.
4.then open DJI fly app normally and you can obsereve the change in the transmission tab .
Link to the apk
Hey mate can you please upload the file again? Google Drive says: "Sorry, the file you have requested does not exist.

Make sure that you have the correct URL and the file exists."

Answering my own question, i updated to latest firmware (C1 certification) and the FCC app is still working
It definitely makes the drone non-C1 compliant, but as long as you don't land in very hot water (water that forces competent authorities to look into your drone logs) you should be fine.

You are probably right, since the mod increases the transmission power, so you can get better range. So it basically makes the drone non CE compliant. But it does not affect the parameters that make the drone C1 in the first place (speed, max height, weight etc). Unless they measure the transmission power, there is no way to prove its not within C1 specs. In any case, i don't use the mod to extend the flight range but to have better connection in the same area i would normally fly. Some could say it improves safety because there is less chance of a communication loss which could lead to an accident.

Yes it is. I also have a DJI mini 2 SE and it works on this.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Even for the latest Firmware 01.00.0410?

Is there any disadvantages in comparison with the ones we have to purchase?

Thanks.

PS: I made myself brave and installed it after writing my message above :)
It seems to be ok and I will test it out as soon as possible.

Sorry to bother but is this the correct file for the DJI mini 2 SE?

Yes I have the latest firmware and this hack worked just fine, I increased my range significantly (I estimate at least 30% more). The ones you have to buy will eliminate the no fly zones and the altitude limit but if you go screwing around by flying higher than you're allowed to or where you're not supposed to be then you will get in the s*** big time if you get caught or worse still manage to down a light airplane with your craft, so I wouldn't go that way if I were you (but extra range is fine) .

Thank you for the clarification. My intention is really just having a more reliable connection and a better range. I don't want to fly above the limits nor making anything dangerous.

I have one question though: it seems to be working, except for one detail - If I want the drone on FCC mode, I have to use the patch every time I switch the drone on. After switching off, the next time I switch it on it goes back to CE mode.

Does it happen to you as well? Or did I do anything wrong?

Thanks.

Yes that is exactly the case - the hack is not permanent, you have to apply it every single time you change the battery in the drone. Never mind its only one small drawback.

I just bought a DJI Mini 2 SE and I tried using the app and removing the cable from the controller and inserting in the bottom port, but it loses the connection to the drone and does not present a notification like in the video on YT from the Danish guy. I am on 01.00.0410 so I thought it should work no?

Try this way, following this order:

1- Install fcc hack app on your phone

Then, with no cables connected:

2- Switch on the drone
3- Switch on the remote and wait them to sync
4- Connect the remote bottom usb-c to your phone - the FCC Hack app should open by it self within a few seconds; if it doesn't open, tap it to open
5- Tap "patch" and you will get a message "patched successfuly" - then minimize the app (do not close it)
6- Disconnect the usb-c from the bottom of the remote and connect it on the top usb-c port of the remote (I use two cables to make it easier) - The DJI Fly app should now open by itself after a few seconds
7- Now you should be on FCC mode! Just check it on the transmission menu.

Now go and fly safe!

Bear in mind you have to redo the complete process every time you disconnect the drone or the remote (even just for changing the battery)

Thanks for taking the time to provide the nice instructions. I followed them precisely, but no joy. I see that I get a popup after about 10seconds (variable) which says "select which app should use the USB device" (or something to that effect), but it disappears after about 1 second and even if I manage to click on the Mavic FCC app, it does not do anything and if I open the app, I can't establish a connection, and the patch command gives an error and tells me to connect the controller.

Is it because of the model of my controller? I have RC231.

That shouldn't be a problem, they seem to be the same as RC-N1 (it's the one I have).

Maybe the phone is the problem? I'm running android 13 (Galaxy S20).

Did you try to uninstall and reinstall both FCC app and DJI Fly app?
