You are probably right as the Mini 4 is a direct replacement even though it only has a few incremental upgrades. DJI is probably clearing out excess stock before they discontinue it.

No, no misunderstanding. I understand the difference between virtual sticks and onboard waypoints.
If you prefer DJIs implementation of waypoints on your Mini 4 that is fine. I much prefer Litchi’s and Dronelink’s implementation because of the ability to plan missions on my computer which for...
If intermittent signal loss due to foliage is causing that much trouble then flying your drone in any other mode is going to be just as troublesome.
FWIW I have never had any intermittent signal loss using Dronelink (Virtual Sticks) or now Litchi Pilot with any recent DJI drone in all kinds of...
Don't discount Litchi Pilot and the value of an SDK even if it is only virtual sticks. Virtual sticks perform well in most cases. The problem arises when you want to fly out of signal range - that's when virtual sticks become a problem but the range on most modern drones is so good, it...
Mini 5 - I'm sure DJI is working on something new as there is always going to be something new on the horizon with new features. You just have to decide whether the new features are compelling enough for you to upgrade. For me, unless it has some sort of dual lens system and is kept under 250g I...
I do not have a Mini 4, but the Mini 3 Pro does not have a night video mode or cruise control. Apparently there is a way to get cruise control using the hyperlapse feature but I have never got it to work properly.
Chris
In addition to the specs posted above the Mini 3 Pro can use third party software like Litchi Pilot and Dronelink since the SDK has been released.
Also if you already have or are planning on getting DJI’s high quality RC Pro controller the Mini 3 Pro can use that controller as well.
These...
Nice shot and it worked well. You have a nice location to do your paintings.
The beach I have been shooting at is a hangout for young people at night and they have had problems. They installed giant floodlights to reduce the problems - not the greatest for nighttime photography. It’s too bad...
In Canada you should be ok to fly your Mini 3 Pro as long as you have not attached anything to the drone that will put its weight over 250g. That also means not using any Plus batteries as that puts the weight over the limit. You cannot fly your drone regardless of its weight in any National...
One would think that the advantages to onboard waypoints outweigh those done with virtual sticks for light painting, but as the following two images show this is not necessarily the case.
First image - Mini 3 Pro using Litchi Pilot beta (virtual sticks).
Second image - Phantom 3 Standard...
Here's my first attempt at doing a two colour light painting. Had to run the mission for the stem and leaves then run it again for the flower. The two images were combined in post.
